KEN SHORT - BISHOP OF DIGNE / MAJOR DOMO
Ken returned to the Hobart stage two years ago as the Rector, Dr Chasuble, in Hobart Rep's production of The Importance of Being Earnest. Also for Hobart Rep, he rose in ecclesiastical rank to be Cardinal Wolsey in A Man For All Seasons. For Les Miserables, he is pleased to take a 'demotion' to play the Bishop. Ken says "the play hinges on the Bishop's act of charity to Valjean. It's a lovely role."
 
 
 

PETER GEE - SAILOR / FAUCHELEVANT
Peter's love of theatre bloomed after starring in the coveted role of Charlie the Sewing Machine Repair Man in the 1976 Belmont High School (Vic) production of The Pajama Game. Since then he has been confined to the small screen as a sports broadcaster and newsreader on the ABC.
 
 
 
 

SCOTT HUNT - CONSTABLE / BAMATABOIS
Known for his long career in music and television, Scott has worked as a radio actor since 1980, most notably playing twelve characters in Tim Gadd's international series Clutter. He is the author of The Black and White Dog Book and guitarist with local band Split the Bill. Scott's many theatre credits include Richard Lyons in Blood Brothers, Jesus Christ Superstar, Timothy in The Secret Garden, Don in Don't Party, Austen Skate in Wildest Dreams and Doc in West Side Story.
 
 

JOHN GUNTER - FOREMAN
John studies voice with Sharon Prero, and recently appeared in the chorus of Oliver! for the G&S Society. John is enthusiastic about playing the role of the Foreman and hopes that this production will further his stage career.
 
 
 
 
 

SHAUN COUSINS - INNKEEPER / FEUILLY
Shaun has been performing in Hobart for a number of years. He has appeared in shows such as Les Miserables for the G&S Society, in which he played the Bishop of Digne, and 42nd Street. Shaun has also sung with the Tasmanian Song Company, the Lincoln Singers and numerous other Hobart choirs.
 
 
 
 

MARK FITZPATRICK - LABOURER / COMBEFERRE
Mark's keen interest in performance has been fueled by several years of vocal study with Suzanne Ortuso and involvement in Guilford Young College productions. His roles in these productions include Billy Crocker in Anything Goes, Jesus in Godspell and William Shires in The Ship That Never Was, performed in Strahan last summer. Mark has sung with a variety of choirs, and has performed in eisteddfods as a member of choral groups and as an individual.
 
 

BEN GARDAM - JEAN PROUVAIRE
Ben has been involved with the Burnie Musical Society both on and off stage for many years, since appearing as a workhouse boy in Oliver!. He has also appeared in The Music Man, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Once Upon A Mattress.
 
 
 
 

MICHAEL KREGOR - FARMER / JOLY
Michael has performed with the G&S Society for many years, with roles including Florindo in The Venetian Twins, the Foreman and Combeferre in the 1995 production of Les Miserables and Brown in The Threepenny Opera. An established tenor, Michael has most recently appeared as the Counsel in the G&S Society's Trial By Jury, and was the tenor soloist in the Messiah for Hobart Orpheus Choir in 1999. Michael studies voice with Sharon Prero and sings in the TSO Chorus.
 
 

PATRICK O'HALLORAN - CONSTABLE / GRANTAIRE
Having appeared in Jesus Christ Superstar for ExitLeft Productions, My Fair Lady and Trial By Jury for the G&S Society, Patrick also has extensive modelling experience, both in catwalk and promotions for clients such as Myer and Goldwell. Patrick is set to continue his modelling and theatrical career in Melbourne upon completion of his Law degree.
 
 
 

DARREN SANGWELL - PIMP / COURFEYRAC
A regular performer in local theatre, Darren has had both principal and minor roles in Calamity Jane, Trial By Jury, The Secret Garden, The Fantasticks, My Fair Lady, Big River and Me and My Girl. He has sung at Carols by Candlelight with Jane Scali in St David's Park. Darren is currently studying voice at the Conservatorium of Music under the guidance of Helen Todd, and will next be seen in Huon Valley Theatre Company's production of Annie, playing the role of Drake.
 
 

GILES WHITEHOUSE - CHAIN GANG / LESGLES
Giles has been performing in front of Tasmanian audiences for a number of years. His credits include A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Dock and The Real Inspector Hound. Les Miserables will be Giles' first major production.
 
 
 
 
 

STEPHEN ASHTON - MONTPARNASSE
Stephen is best known for his fourteen years as Jake in the Blues Brothers Revival Band, during which he toured both Australia and overseas. He has more recently starred as Styne in local Hobart band Styne's Legends, playing throughout Tasmania for the past eight years.
 
 
 
 

MICK JAHNZ - CHAIN GANG / BRUJON
Michael has performed musical theatre in both Hobart and Launceston in a variety of chorus and principal roles, including Joe in Show Boat, Emile in South Pacific, Sergeant of Police in Pirates of Penzance, and the dual role of the Prince and the Wolf in Into the Woods. Michael was also involved in the G&S Society's production of Les Miserables in 1995.
 
 
 

TARKAN KURT - CLAQUESOUS
After starting a career in the fashion industry, Tarkan fell in love with our scenic countryside whilst on holiday and moved to Tasmania. He is currently studying at the University of Tasmania, and also does part-time modelling around Hobart.
 
 
 
 
 

NEIL ROWE - CHAIN GANG / SAILOR / BABET
Neil has been a vocalist in bands for twenty five years, and has performed in numerous restaurants and clubs on the Gold Coast. He is currently involved in a karaoke show performing around local venues.
